“Eurosolidarity” demands to vote on the draft budget for 2026 article by article to clean up corruption articles – Gerashchenko

The European Solidarity faction demands a vote on the draft State Budget for 2026 article by article in order to clean it of corruption expenses and direct funds to defense and the social sphere.

This was stated by EU Co-Chair Iryna Gerashchenko during a speech from the parliament rostrum.

“Since 2019, the pro-European, pro-Ukrainian opposition in this hall has not had many mechanisms to protect the interests of voters. And we include all Ukrainians who are for Ukraine, for the EU and NATO. Nevertheless, our team manages to impose a civilized agenda on this hall, defending the subjectivity of the work of the parliament and the accountability of the government appointed by the Office of the President,” Gerashchenko noted.

She explained that it was precisely the European Solidarity that resorted to a parliamentary form of struggle — blocking the rostrum in order to force ministers to meet with factions and make changes to the draft budget of the warring country.

“What did our team achieve? First. An increase in the personal income tax for communities by four percent. Communities will receive sixty-four percent of the personal income tax,” the deputy emphasized.

According to her, this is a key story at a time when communities are bearing the greatest burden in the context of maintaining schools and hospitals during Russian bombings.

“Second. We managed to pressure the government to switch one billion hryvnias to protected expenditure items of the Ministry of Defense. Third. We will very strictly control that when it comes to roads, we only talk about repairing those roads where the logistics of delivering the Armed Forces of Ukraine require it. This is very important,” says Iryna Gerashchenko.

In addition, an amendment was made to the draft budget that, starting January 1 of next year, up to twenty percent of personal income tax for brigades should be revised.

“And now, what didn’t work out. I want the whole country to hear this. The draft budget for 2026 still contains a propaganda marathon, for which the authorities fought more than for the salaries of soldiers. And there are also four billion, this will be Zelensky’s personal program to distribute to his adventurous artists for the so-called cultural product. We see it in the marathon, we see this product on Telegram channels. Therefore, our demand today: to vote on this budget article by article, block by block in order to clean out all the crap from there. And now we will give you a chance to clean out these terrible amendments. We demand to vote article by article so that the whole country sees the position of the servants first and foremost,” Gerashchenko concluded.
