Eurovision 2026 to be held in Vienna
In 2026, the international song contest Eurovision will be held in the capital of Austria – Vienna.
The competition organizers reported this.
The semi-finals will take place on May 12 and 14, and the grand final on May 16 at the country’s largest indoor arena, the Wiener Stadthalle. Innsbruck and Vienna competed for the right to host the competition, but the capital won.
Austria won the right to host Eurovision 2026 after singer JJ won this year’s contest in Basel.
The country first took part in Eurovision in 1957 in Frankfurt, but finished in last place. Austria celebrated its first triumph in 1966 with the ballad Merci, Chérie performed by Udo Jürgens.
Conchita Wurst won the contest for the second time in 2014 with the song Rise Like a Phoenix. In 2025, her compatriot JJ repeated the success and gave the country the right to host the contest again.
