Excise duties on sweet drinks and “OLX tax”: what awaits Ukrainians in 2025
The Ukrainian Government has promised the International Monetary Fund to increase taxes and excise duties in 2025.
This was announced by Yaroslav Zheleznyak, a member of parliament from the Holos party.
“The Ministry of Finance has violated the law again. It was supposed to submit the Budget Declaration for 2026-2028 to the Rada in three days, but this was not done,” the People’s Deputy noted.
He also emphasized that the budget declaration was submitted to the International Monetary Fund. The text of the document states that the Government of Ukraine promises to increase taxes as early as 2025.
In particular, they concern the introduction of excise taxes on sugary drinks and improving the tax debt collection system.
Zheleznyak also added that a tax on platforms, the so-called “OLX tax,” is planned.
As reported, the IMF recommended that Ukraine increase taxes from 2026 to increase budget revenues .
