Ukrainian law enforcement officers have identified another Russian serviceman involved in the murder of a civilian during the occupation of Bucha in the Kyiv region in March 2022.
This was reported by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
According to the GUR, the identity of the war criminal was established by investigators of the Main Investigation Department of the National Police with the assistance of Ukrainian military intelligence.
The investigation established that on March 6, 2022, Russian military personnel opened fire on a Honda CR-V car traveling along Levka Lukyanenko Street in Bucha. The driver was a local resident born in 1960. He did not participate in hostilities, had no weapons, and did not pose any threat to the occupiers.
According to law enforcement, Russian soldiers fired at least ten shots at the car without warning. The man died on the spot from multiple gunshot wounds.
The GUR reported that Yuriy Shipulin, born in 1985, was involved in the crime. At the time of the incident, he was the commander of the detachment – the commander of a combat vehicle of the 6th airborne assault company of the 2nd battalion tactical group of the 234th airborne assault regiment of the 76th airborne assault division of the Airborne Forces of the Russian Federation with the rank of senior sergeant.
He was informed in absentia of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with premeditated murder committed by a group of persons.
The GUR also reported that, according to available information, the Russian military has already been eliminated during the war. Ukrainian intelligence stressed that all war crimes committed against the Ukrainian people will receive a proper legal assessment.
