Explosion near the shopping center in Lviv region: SBU detained two men

An explosion occurred near the building of the Stryi District CCC and SP in Mykolaiv, Lviv region . A 55-year-old serviceman was injured, and law enforcement officers detained two men who are being investigated for involvement in the incident.

This was reported by the SBU in the Lviv region and the Lviv regional CCC and SP.

The explosion occurred on September 17 at around 4:30 p.m. near the entrance to the territorial procurement center building. According to preliminary information, an unknown explosive device was thrown onto the territory of the TCC from the street.

The prosecutor’s office reported that a Daewoo Lanos car drove past the open gates of the CCC before the explosion. Surveillance cameras recorded someone throwing an explosive device onto the territory from the front passenger seat.

A 55-year-old serviceman of the 2nd department of the Stryi district CCC and SP was injured in the explosion. He was taken to the Mykolaiv central district hospital. Military doctors assess his condition as moderate.

The SBU later reported that law enforcement officers had identified and detained two men who may have been involved in the explosion.

Investigators continue to investigate the circumstances of the incident and identify all possible suspects.

Law enforcement is investigating the case as a terrorist act. Under this article, the perpetrator could face up to 15 years or life imprisonment.
