Explosions in Perm: a large oil refinery came under attack

Explosions were heard in Perm, Russia, during a drone attack on the morning of August 21. According to local residents, thick smoke rose above the Lukoil-Permnefteorgsintez oil refinery after the explosions.

According to local media, an air raid siren was heard in the city. Eyewitnesses published photos of smoke, which, according to OSINT analysts, was recorded in the area of the oil refinery.
The day before, the Ministry of Territorial Security of the Perm Territory and the Russian Emergencies Ministry warned of the threat of drone attacks.
There is currently no official information about the consequences of the strike or possible damage to the enterprise. The regional authorities have not yet commented on the situation.
In the wake of the attack, Rosaviatsia announced temporary restrictions on the arrival and departure of aircraft at Perm airport. The agency explained this by the need to ensure flight safety.
Lukoil-Permnefteorgsintez is one of the largest oil refineries in Russia. The company processes over 13 million tons of oil per year and produces gasoline, diesel fuel, aviation kerosene, and lubricants.
Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry announced the alleged interception and destruction of 325 drones overnight over various regions of the country, including the Perm Krai. There is no independent confirmation of this data.
As a reminder, on July 29 and the night of July 30, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck a number of important military and industrial facilities of Russia and the occupation forces. Among the targets were one of the largest oil refineries in the Russian Federation, Lukoil-Permnefteorgsintez, in Perm , and the Primorsky Posad training ground in the temporarily occupied territory of the Zaporizhzhia region.
