Explosions in Tuapse: drones destroyed part of Russian oil refinery
On the night of Wednesday, December 31, drones attacked the city of Tuapse in the Krasnodar Territory of the Russian Federation. The strike caused fires at an oil refinery and damaged a pier at the seaport.
This is reported by Russian media and local authorities, and the information is also confirmed by the ASTRA Telegram channel.
At around 11:00 p.m. on December 30, Tuapse residents began posting on social media about explosions and drones flying over the city. Initially, reports of a fire at an oil depot appeared, and later videos of a large-scale fire, probably at a local refinery, spread online.
Later, the operational headquarters of the Krasnodar Territory confirmed that as a result of the UAV attack, several objects were damaged at once – a pier in the port, equipment at the oil refinery, as well as a gas pipe in the residential sector.
According to official data, the fire at the refinery covered an area of about 300 square meters. 64 rescuers and 16 units of special equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire.
At the same time, the pro-Ukrainian Telegram channel Exilenova+ reported that, according to preliminary information, the fire could have engulfed the AVT-12 unit, one of the key elements of primary oil processing, which is responsible for atmospheric-vacuum distillation of raw materials at the Tuapse Refinery.
Later, the Russian authorities officially acknowledged the drone strike, confirming damage to port infrastructure and the territory of the oil refinery.
As a reminder, on the night of December 28 , drones attacked the Russian city of Syzran . The strike could have hit an oil refinery and electrical substations.
As reported, on the night of December 26, residents of Volgograd, Russia, reported a series of loud explosions that occurred in different areas of the city. According to preliminary information, the local oil refinery “Lukoil-Volgogradneftepererabotka” was again hit, where a large-scale fire broke out after the attack.
