This was reported to Babel by sources in the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
The target was a military unit in the village of Shchytova, where the 47th separate airborne assault battalion of the 155th separate guards marine brigade of the Russian Federation is based. This brigade actively participated in hostilities against Ukraine – in particular near Kyiv, in Vugledar and Mariupol, in the Kursk and Pokrovsky directions, as well as in the occupation of Bucha, Irpin and Gostomel, where its fighters are suspected of war crimes.
Thus, at 9:00 local time (02:00 Kyiv time) two powerful explosions were heard on the territory of the military unit. Russian Telegram channels and media outlets report that the incident occurred in the unit’s parking lot.
A lot of special equipment, rescuers, and law enforcement officers arrived at the scene of the emergency. The area of administrative buildings and adjacent areas are blocked off.
The occupation side hastened to call the cause “an incident with gas equipment,” but eyewitnesses report dead and wounded personnel. A large number of ambulances are working at the scene.
