Explosions rocked the Stavropol Territory: drones hit a chemical plant

A massive drone attack was recorded in Russia on the night of Friday, July 25. The drones attacked several regions, including the Rostov Oblast and the Stavropol Krai, where a chemical plant was hit.

Residents of Taganrog, Novocherkassk, Shakhty and nearby areas of the Rostov region reported a series of powerful explosions and flashes in the sky. According to eyewitnesses, there were at least 7 explosions, accompanied by the noise of drones. Previously, Russian air defense forces tried to shoot down drones that approached populated areas.

Explosions were also heard in the Stavropol Territory, with residents of Nevinnomyssk reporting a drone attack. According to preliminary data, the Nevinnomyssk Azot chemical plant, one of the largest producers of ammonia and fertilizers in Russia, may have been hit.

The city’s mayor confirmed more than three dozen hits, but assured that “there were no casualties or damage.” At the same time, videos of explosions and drone attacks are spreading on social media, and Russian officials are urging “not to sow panic.”

There is currently no official confirmation of the shelling of the chemical plant.

Amid the night attack, eight Russian airports have implemented the “Carpet” aviation plan, a temporary restriction on flights. A ban on departures and arrivals has been imposed in Vladikavkaz, Grozny, Magas, Mineralnye Vody, Nalchik, Stavropol, Sochi, and Tambov. According to Russian media, at least 25 flights have been delayed.

As a reminder, on the night of Thursday, July 24, a massive drone attack was recorded in the Krasnodar Territory of the Russian Federation. Powerful explosions were heard in Sochi and its Adler district, where an oil depot caught fire as a result of the strike.

As reported, on the night of Wednesday, July 23, the Russian Rostov region again came under attack from drones. According to local residents, a series of explosions were heard in several cities in the region, including Novocherkassk and Taganrog. The attack caused fires and disruptions in the operation of critical infrastructure.
