Explosions rocked Volgograd: oil refinery hit

Unknown drones carried out an attack on the Volgograd region, causing debris to cause a fire at an oil refinery.

This was announced by the governor of the region, Andriy Bocharov.

According to the head of the region, debris fell on the territory of “LUKOIL-Volgogradneftepererabotka”, which caused a spill of petroleum products and their ignition. Firefighters responded quickly and localized the fire. Fortunately, there were no injuries.

Telegram sources report that the first loud explosions occurred at around 2:30 a.m., especially in the Krasnoarmiysky district of Volgograd. Eyewitnesses recorded at least 5-7 strong explosions, after which a fire broke out in one of the city areas with heavy smoke.

The Exilenova+ channel confirmed that debris hit several areas of the Lukoil refinery at once.

At 23:29, Volgograd Airport announced a security preparedness plan called “Carpet”, which temporarily suspended the reception and departure of flights.

In addition, at around 02:00, a drone hit the Belgorod region government building. According to Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov, the damage was minor and there were no casualties. Video from the scene was posted on local social media.

As a reminder, on the night of August 13, drones attacked several fuel infrastructure facilities in Russia . Oil refineries in the Volgograd and Krasnodar regions, as well as an oil pumping station in the Bryansk region, were hit.

As reported, on the night of August 12, the Russian city of Stavropol came under attack by drones . According to Russian media, loud explosions were heard in the city, and local residents reported fires at industrial enterprises.
