Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has spoken out against holding talks between President Volodymyr Zelensky and Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin in Hungary.

He wrote about this on the social network X.

Earlier, media reported that the United States is considering Hungary as a possible venue for the Zelensky-Putin summit. The Polish Prime Minister believes that holding the talks in Budapest, where the Budapest Memorandum was previously signed, would be a “historical irony.”

“Budapest? Not everyone may remember this, but in 1994, Ukraine already received guarantees of territorial integrity from the US, Russia and Great Britain. In Budapest. Maybe I’m superstitious, but this time I would try to find a different place,” Tusk said.

It was previously reported that a meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian leader Vladimir Putin could take place in the coming weeks . According to European diplomatic sources, Hungary is being considered as a potential venue for the talks.

As a reminder, multilateral talks involving US President Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, and leaders of key European countries have concluded in Washington. The central topic of the discussions was the prospect of ending the war in Ukraine and launching a new peace process initiated by Washington.
