Russian Telegram channels published a fake story online about a Ukrainian serviceman of the 103rd Brigade of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, claiming that he allegedly went to the front to avoid punishment for “raping minors.”
This was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation.
Hostile publics spread lies about the former physical education teacher. The propagandists claim that the brothers found “material evidence” on the man, thereby exposing him.
“The Center contacted the 103rd Regional Brigade of the Russian Defense Ministry and they denied this information,” the report says.
According to the Central Propaganda Office, Russian propaganda was based on a real report about an anti-aircraft gunner from the Bohdan Khmelnytsky Radio Engineering Brigade, but completely distorted the content of the publication.
As noted, the Russians changed the name of the unit, the 103rd Special Operations Brigade, and used real quotes, attributing them to a fictional crime.
The Center for Countering Disinformation explained: the goal of the distributed posts is to demonize and discredit the military Defense Forces. The corresponding fake is part of a broader Russian campaign.
“The enemy is trying to turn stories about Ukrainian defenders into a tool of its hybrid war,” the CPD concluded.
Recently, Russian propaganda launched a new fake about the alleged “shootings of deserters” in the Ukrainian army to stabilize the front.
