Fake girl on Telegram: SBU detained a Russian-recruited soldier

A Ukrainian serviceman was detained in the Kharkiv region, who, according to the SBU, was recruited by the Russians through a fake girl on Telegram. He is suspected of passing information about the Ukrainian Armed Forces units in the Volchansk direction to the enemy.

This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine.

According to the SBU, the man was mobilized from the Dnipropetrovsk region. He served in the army as an assistant to a UAV operator.

The Russians reached out to the military man through Telegram dating channels. To do this, they created a fake account of a girl who began communicating with him and gradually asking for information about his service.

According to the investigation, the man was passing on to the Russians information about his reconnaissance battalion and other units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine fighting in the Vovchansk direction, approximately 10 km from the front line.

The SBU detained a soldier near the training ground. Before that, the special service took measures to secure the positions of Ukrainian fighters.

During the search, a phone was found on the man, which, according to law enforcement officers, contained evidence of his communication with Russians.

The detainee was informed of suspicion of spreading information about the location of Ukrainian military personnel. He is currently in custody. He faces up to eight years in prison.

In addition, law enforcement officers are checking whether there are grounds to further qualify his actions as high treason.

As a reminder, law enforcement officers of the Security Service, together with the National Police, detained a resident of the Ternopil region who set fire to the entrance to a bank branch in Ternopil.
