In Transcarpathia, law enforcement officers uncovered a scheme to embezzle budget funds that were allocated for people with disabilities and military personnel who lost limbs in the war.

This was reported by the Transcarpathian Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

It is known that the suspicion was reported to the acting head of the regional branch of the Fund for Social Protection of Persons with Disabilities and his accomplice.

According to the investigation, those involved in the case established a scheme under which the state paid for prostheses and rehabilitation equipment that people did not actually receive.

At least seven victims have been identified, including civilians with disabilities, as well as Ukrainian defenders who lost limbs due to injuries at the front.

The victims were persuaded to sign acceptance and transfer certificates in advance, supposedly receiving prostheses or rehabilitation equipment.

Subsequently, for various reasons, the transfer of funds was postponed.

In some cases, the prostheses were not manufactured at all, but the products were considered provided according to the documents.

These documents later became the basis for transferring budget funds to the supplier. In this way, the state paid for rehabilitation funds that individuals never actually received. In addition, due to the “documentary” provision, people were deprived of the opportunity to receive these funds in other institutions.

The amount of losses, according to preliminary estimates, is about 600 thousand hryvnias. The partners divided the funds 50:50.

The detainee is charged with embezzlement of budget funds under martial law and official forgery (Part 4 of Article 191, Part 2 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The accomplices are charged with aiding the embezzlement of another’s property through abuse of official position, committed under martial law (Part 5, Article 27 – Part 4, Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Law enforcement officers are deciding on the choice of a preventive measure for those involved in the case.

It is also known that all the suspects’ property has been seized.

The suspects face up to 8 years in prison with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years.

Law enforcement officers are currently investigating all the details of the case. The investigation is ongoing.

Earlier , “Pryamiy” reported that in Transcarpathia, a court found a 32-year-old resident of the village of Ilnytsia guilty of trafficking her own minor children for the purpose of exploiting them in begging. The woman was sentenced to 8 years in prison with confiscation of property, and the children were transferred to the care of their grandmother.

Law enforcement agencies also exposed a urologist in the city of Berehove, Transcarpathian region , who was selling fictitious diagnoses to men liable for military service to avoid mobilization.
