Families of military personnel who died in Russian captivity during martial law will receive a one-time payment of 15 million hryvnias.
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
The relevant amendments to Law No. 13168 “On Social and Legal Protection of Military Personnel and Members of Their Families” were adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on July 16.
Now, families of servicemen are entitled to receive assistance in the event of the death of a soldier in captivity, regardless of the cause of death. However, this provision does not apply to those who voluntarily surrendered to captivity.
The law also provides for an increase to one year of the payment period in the event that a serviceman is injured or becomes ill while performing his duties, which leads to partial loss of ability to work without establishing disability.
“Practice will show that due to the long period of treatment and rehabilitation and the unit’s location in the combat zone, it was often impossible for such servicemen to obtain all the necessary documents in a timely manner and exercise their right to financial assistance,” the Ministry of Defense noted.
It is worth noting that the Cabinet of Ministers previously increased the one-time payment for the birth of a child and payments to support families to 50 thousand hryvnias .
It was previously reported that Ukraine is preparing a large-scale pension reform that will allow citizens to significantly increase their future payments . According to the new model, pensions can be doubled or even tripled.
