Family tradition: Petro and Maryna Poroshenko went to the Book Arsenal
Petro and Maryna Poroshenko visited the Book Arsenal. Long lines to enter, heavy packages with purchased new books, and communication with fans of Ukrainian books are also part of the annual intellectual holiday.
This is reported by “European Solidarity” .
“The long lines are pleasantly surprising. At the entrance to the Mystetsky Arsenal, for panel discussions and lectures, and most importantly, for the book stands. Ukrainian books, large and small publishing houses continue to work despite the difficulties created by the war,” Poroshenko writes.
“It’s fascinating how the Book Arsenal adapts to ever-new challenges — and how organically it lives in synergy with the front. The “Book to the Front” initiative. Hundreds of books about the war. Charity collections. These are no longer separate events, but part of the festival, without which it is difficult to imagine it,” Poroshenko notes.
“We met hundreds of smiles, took dozens of selfies, saw acquaintances and friends. My friend Ivan Malkovich, founder of the legendary publishing house “A-BA-BA-GA-LA-MA-GA”. Our charming writer Maria Matios… And everywhere – bags with book purchases,” the fifth President writes.
“If you ask what unites the army, language and faith, I can easily answer. Ukrainian books. I am immensely proud of everyone who joins the development of Ukrainian book publishing. Who translates. Does layout. Prints. Delivers copies to bookstores. Sells and buys. Year after year, here at the Book Arsenal, we prove that our books and language are important to Ukrainians. Because this is part of our culture – without which there will be no victory,” Poroshenko is convinced. He also promised to later share a list of new books that will replenish his library.
