The Federal Bureau of Investigation has released a photo of the suspect in the fatal shooting of American political activist and blogger Charlie Kirk. Law enforcement officials are appealing to the public to help identify the man they believe may be involved in the tragic shooting at Utah Valley University.
This was reported by the FBI press service .
“We are asking for the public’s help in identifying a person of interest in connection with the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University,” the FBI said in a statement on 9/11’s X social media.
FBI Special Agent Robert Balls told a news conference that the weapon likely used by the shooter was found in a wooded area near the university. It is a “high-powered bolt-action rifle.” It has been sent for examination to determine whether it was the one used to shoot Donald Trump’s ally.
FBI representatives also confirmed that the investigation is complex, as the attacker managed to escape after the crime.
Utah State Commissioner Beau Mason said the evidence suggests the shooter acted carefully and deliberately. He took up position on the roof of a university building, fired shots from there, then jumped off the other side and fled into a nearby neighborhood.
Mason suggested that the attacker may have been a young man who “fitted in well at the college,” which would have allowed him to move around campus without suspicion. Experts suggest that the killing was carefully planned.
Earlier it was reported that American law enforcement authorities detained a man suspected of involvement in the shooting that killed prominent ultraconservative activist Charlie Kirk. However, he was released after questioning.
Charlie Kirk, a conservative activist, founder of Turning Point USA, and close ally of President Donald Trump, was shot and killed while speaking at Utah Valley University. This attack marked the 46th school shooting in the United States this year.
