The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is obliged to finally legally ban the transit of Russian oil through the Druzhba oil pipeline.
This is written by Sofia Fedyna, a member of parliament from the European Solidarity faction.
As is known, Eurosolidarity registered the corresponding bills 12380 and 21381 more than a year ago, but the monomajority does not put them to a vote.
“The aggressor state itself struck the Druzhba oil pipeline. Moscow for the first time attacked the infrastructure of the route by which its oil is still transported through the territory of Ukraine to Hungary and Slovakia. Naftogaz confirmed the damage to the facility in the western region, the strikes on the Brody district in the Lviv region were recorded by local authorities and the Center for Countering Disinformation,” the MP states.
“This is a point of no return. A country that is waging a full-scale war against us is simultaneously using Ukrainian infrastructure and destroying it with missiles. Unfortunately, it was during the term of Volodymyr Zelensky (December 3, 2019) that an additional agreement was initialed and drawn up between JSC Ukrtransnafta and Russian Transneft. This agreement extended the contract for the transit of Russian oil for 10 years – from January 1, 2020 to January 1, 2030,” Fedyna recalled.
“Thanks to this contract, the aggressor state receives over $7 billion every year. This is the money that finances missiles, drones, and artillery. This is the money that kills Ukrainian military and civilians,” notes Sofia Fedyna.
“Continuing transit under these conditions is no longer about “economy” and not about “international obligations.” This is complicity in financing a war against one’s own state,” the MP believes.
“The solution exists. Bill No. 12380 , submitted by European Solidarity, has been in the Verkhovna Rada for over a year. It has not been considered by the relevant committee. There is no question of bringing it to the floor. This cannot continue. The strike on the Druzhba oil pipeline should be the last straw in the discussions about the transit of Moscow oil. We demand immediate consideration and adoption of Bill No. 12380. No “buts”. No postponements. No playing in favor of the enemy,” Fedina summarizes.
