Former Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov reported that the Ukrainian side continues negotiations with SpaceX founder Elon Musk regarding the possible use of the Starlink satellite system to counter Russian ballistic launchers.
He talked about this in a podcast with volunteer and blogger Serhiy Sternenko.
According to Fedorov, the dialogue with Musk is ongoing, and the last conversation took place just a few days ago. At the same time, he emphasized that the implementation of this idea is a difficult task and requires further work.
“We are in communication with Musk, we last spoke a few days ago. This is not an easy task – to achieve the result that Ukraine needs,” he noted.
The former minister also recalled that earlier negotiations with an American businessman had already yielded results. In particular, Ukraine managed to block the operation of Starlink terminals used by the Russian military in temporarily occupied territories. According to Fedorov, this was of great importance for security, since satellite communications were used by the Russians, in particular, to control drones.
However, the official did not disclose the details of the current negotiations, citing their confidentiality, but assured that work to achieve the necessary result is ongoing.
