Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said he had ordered the cessation of emergency electricity supplies to Ukraine.
According to Fico, he has fulfilled a promise he made earlier. If the supply of Russian oil through the Druzhba pipeline is not restored, Slovakia will stop providing emergency assistance to the Ukrainian energy system.
“I have fulfilled what I announced on Saturday – if oil supplies are not restored on Monday, I will ask SEPS to stop emergency electricity supplies to Ukraine,” the head of the Slovak government said.
He also noted that in January 2026 alone, Ukraine needed twice as much emergency electricity supplies as in all of 2025.
Thus, Bratislava directly linked the issue of energy support for Ukraine with the transit of Russian oil to Slovakia.
It was previously reported that Croatia responded to requests from Hungary and Slovakia regarding the possibility of transporting Russian oil through the Adria pipeline.
As a reminder, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban publicly stated that Budapest would not allow Ukraine to join the European Union , and also accused Kyiv of interfering in the country’s domestic politics.
