Fighting near Pokrovskoye: Russia throws in reserves and suffers losses

The Ukrainian Defense Forces are maintaining the situation in the Pokrovskaya agglomeration and thwarting attempts by Russian troops to break through, including with the involvement of elite units of the Russian Airborne Forces.

This was reported by the 7th Corps of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

As of 10:00 on December 16, the Ukrainian military continues its defensive operation on the approaches to Pokrovsk and Myrnograd. The tasks involved the units of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, assault units, the Unmanned Systems Forces, the Navy, the Security Service of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine, the National Guard, and the National Police.

Over the past week, enemy losses in the Pokrovskaya agglomeration area amounted to 446 people , which is 30% more than in the previous period. The increase in losses is associated with the full deployment of the Russian operational reserve – three regiments of the 76th Airborne Assault Division.

Ukrainian forces have organized air cover for land logistics routes on the approaches to the agglomeration. According to military data, units are destroying almost 100% of enemy air targets that attempt to reach these routes.

The Russian troops are most active on the western outskirts of Pokrovsk . Units of the 76th Russian Defense Ministry are trying to break through towards Grishinoye, moving along several routes at once. The defense forces are blocking possible directions of advance and destroying the enemy with artillery and FPV drones.

In Myrnograd, the enemy is increasing pressure on the southeastern areas. Isolated infiltration attempts are being recorded on the approaches to “upper” Myrnograd, however, Ukrainian fighters, in particular the 38th Separate Marine Brigade, are promptly detecting and eliminating the enemy.

The Defense Forces also continue to stabilize and expand the logistics corridor to Myrnograd. In the areas of Svitly and Rivne, isolated enemy groups appear, which are immediately destroyed. The military confirms that Rivne is under full control of Ukraine .

It was previously reported that the Ukrainian defense forces improved their positions in the west of Zaporizhia region, advancing south of Stepnohirsk and strengthening the defense line in this direction.

As a reminder, the Defense Forces are developing an operation to regain control over Kupyansk in the Kharkiv region – the Russians there remained virtually blocked.
