Finnish President Alexander Stubb announced on Sunday, May 25, his readiness to represent Europe in potential peace talks with Russia.
This was reported by the publication “European Pravda” with reference to the question and answer program on Yle Radio Suomi.
In May, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Europe should have its own representative in peace talks with Russia.
The Finnish president stressed that he is ready to accept this role if asked.
“If I’m asked, that’s probably the one question that can’t be answered with a no,” Stubb said.
In particular, he emphasized that he is ready to conduct negotiations only after Russia agrees to a ceasefire.
Earlier , “Pryamoy” reported that the Finnish president called for the appointment of a European envoy to Ukraine.
According to him, Europe should create its own team for negotiations on Ukraine and also appoint a special representative on the Ukrainian issue.
Also, US Presidential Special Representative Steve Witkoff stated that new progress could emerge in negotiations between Ukraine and Russia in the near future.
