Finland is developing its own air raid warning system via a mobile application, similar to the Ukrainian application.
This was reported by Yle.
“In Ukraine, people receive warnings about upcoming airstrikes via a mobile app. Finland is also developing a similar program,” the publication noted.
In addition, the creation of an SMS notification system is underway in parallel.
According to Finnish Interior Ministry spokesman Jussi Korhonen, the systems will have different purposes. Emergency notifications will be sent via SMS, and a mobile application will allow you to receive additional information.
Korhonen is convinced that the system was needed on March 29, when drones flew into Finnish territory.
“This is absolutely necessary. We no longer live in an isolated world where external evil does not penetrate,” added retired Finnish Army Colonel Juri Kosola.
The government has allocated 6 million euros for the development of warning systems, and another 500,000 euros are planned to be received from the European Union. The program is expected to be created by the end of 2027.
Recall that last year, testing of a new air raid warning system began in the Dnipropetrovsk region .
