Fire at Vyborg plant after drone attack: dry cargo ship and icebreaker destroyed

On the night of Wednesday, March 25, drones struck the Vyborg Shipbuilding Plant in the Leningrad Region. The attack set a dry cargo ship on fire and damaged a Project 23550 patrol icebreaker.

This was reported by Advisor to the Minister of Defense Serhiy Sternenko.

Local residents also noticed a fire on the territory of the enterprise: a dry cargo ship caught fire.

The pictures probably show the patrol icebreaker “Purga” of project 23550, the completion of which was planned to be transferred to the Admiralty Shipyards of the Russian Construction Company.

Vyborg Shipbuilding Plant is one of the key enterprises in Russia, specializing in the construction of ice-class civilian ships and offshore equipment. Previously, the Admiralty Shipyards were considered as a site for completing the construction of the icebreaker “Burga” for the Russian FSB border service.

As a reminder, drones attacked the Russian port of Ust-Luga in the Leningrad region . As a result of the shelling, a fire broke out.
