First place and six medals: results of the first day of the Paralympics

The Ukrainian national team won 6 medals on the first day of the 2026 Winter Paralympic Games in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy. Ukrainian athletes won 3 gold, 1 silver, and 2 bronze medals.

This was reported by the “Paralympic Committee of Ukraine” .

The final performance of the day for the Ukrainian team was the 7.5 km parabiathlon sprint among men in the standing class for athletes with visual impairment. In this discipline, Ukrainian athletes took the entire podium.

The gold medal was won by Oleksandr Kazik together with leader Serhiy Kucheryavy.

Yaroslav Reshetynskyi won silver together with leader Dmytro Dragun.

Bronze was won by Anatoliy Kovalevskyi together with leader Oleksandr Mukshin.

Thus, the prize places in this race were distributed as follows:

  • Oleksandr Kazik — leader Serhiy Kucheryavyi;
  • Yaroslav Reshetynskyi — leader Dmytro Dragun;
  • Anatoly Kovalevsky is the leader of Oleksandr Mukshin.

According to the results of the first day of the competition, the Ukrainian national team has won 6 medals: 3 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze. Ukrainian athletes continue their performances at the 2026 Winter Paralympic Games, which will be held in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo.

It was previously reported that the Ukrainian National Team has begun its performances at the 2026 Winter Paralympic Games . 19 Ukrainian athletes will compete on the first day of competition.

Subsequently, Ukrainian paraathlete Taras Rad won a gold medal in the sitting parabiathlon at the 2026 Winter Paralympic Games . This is Ukraine’s first medal at the current Games and at the same time its first “gold”.
