Five hours of money laundering: In Kyiv, a man climbed into a barrel of tar to “disguise himself” for robbing a store

In the Svyatoshynskyi district of Kyiv, a 26-year-old man climbed into a barrel of tar to rob a grocery store unnoticed. Police detained him with a bag of stolen goods and spent more than 5 hours cleaning the tar off.

This was reported by the National Police of Ukraine.

The man damaged the glass door of the store and got inside. He put cigarettes, juice, candy, an orange, grapefruit, and wet wipes in a bag, but the guards prevented him from escaping.

On the way home, the man started throwing stones at the windows of the lyceum. Law enforcement officers found him with a bag of stolen goods and detained him.

To get the man to the police station, the tar had to be washed off him. The police spent more than 5 hours, 12 liters of oil, and 4 liters of detergent on this.

The man was informed of suspicion under Part 4 of Article 186 and Part 1 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – robbery and hooliganism. The procedural management is carried out by the Svyatoshyn District Prosecutor’s Office.
