Five mini-CHP plants have been built in Kyiv – cogeneration plants that have second-level protection.

This was reported by hromadske.

As Acting First Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration Petro Panteleyev said, out of the five installed installations, two are currently operating, and commissioning work is underway on the others. The official assured that the relevant facilities are being built in protective structures.

The total capacity of the mini-CHP is 66 megawatts. Although this is not enough to cover the city’s needs, the installations support individual facilities.

“We are still buying more, now we see risks — attacks are being made on the gas infrastructure. In our opinion, differentiation is needed,” the official said.

He added that the city still plans to launch a 20-megawatt diesel power plant in March.

It is noted that Kyiv spent 12 billion hryvnias on equipment, installation, and protective structures for the facilities.

As a reminder, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko stated that the situation in the capital remains difficult – this is the first time such a scale has been observed since the beginning of the Russian invasion.

As you know, emergency power outages are ongoing in Kyiv . City residents will be without power for approximately 10 hours.
