Russian forces attacked energy infrastructure with drones and artillery. Shelling and bad weather left consumers in five regions without electricity.
This was reported by NPC Ukrenergo.
Currently, consumers in Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhia, and Kharkiv regions remain without electricity. At the same time, due to adverse weather conditions, 24 settlements in Zhytomyr region were completely or partially without electricity this morning. Repair crews are already restoring damaged power lines.
It is noted that energy workers have begun emergency restoration work where the security situation allows.
“Electricity consumption has increased. Today, September 18, as of 09:30, it was 8.9% higher than at the same time the previous day — Thursday. The reason was cloudy weather in some regions of Ukraine, due to which household solar power plants operate less efficiently. This leads to an increase in electricity consumption from the general network,” the energy company reported.
The agency added that on September 17, the daily maximum consumption was recorded in the evening. It was at the same level as the maximum the previous day, September 16.
In particular, Ukrenergo called for shifting active electricity consumption to the period of most efficient operation of industrial solar power plants – from 11:00 to 15:00. At the same time, consumers are asked to use electricity sparingly in the evening hours – from 18:00 to 22:00.
