Five-year-old girl confessed to teacher: man will be tried for sexual violence in Zhytomyr region

A 37-year-old man will appear in court in the Zhytomyr region, accused of sexually assaulting two sisters, aged five and seven. The perpetrator took advantage of the children’s defenselessness when he came to visit their parents.

This was reported by the Zhytomyr Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

The tragedy occurred in March 2026 in the Brusylivka community. According to investigators, the accused was drunk and visited his friends. When the adults left the man alone with the girls, he used his physical advantage and committed sexual acts against both children. The crime could have remained a secret if not for the attentiveness of the teachers.

The younger, 5-year-old girl confided in her kindergarten teacher and told her what the guest had done to her and her sister. The woman immediately called the police.

“Juvenile prosecutors of the Korostyshiv District Prosecutor’s Office have referred to court a case against a 37-year-old resident of the Brusylivka community, who is accused of sexual violence against two underage girls,” the department’s press service noted.

After the crime was discovered, the guardianship authorities removed both sisters from their biological family. The court is currently considering a lawsuit to deprive the father and mother of parental rights due to improper care of the children.

Currently, the girls are under the protection of a foster family, where specialists work with them.
As for the perpetrator himself, the police investigation has already been completed.

The man is charged with violating parts 4 and 6 of Article 153 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (sexual violence against minors). The defendant is awaiting trial in a pre-trial detention center. He faces the maximum penalty for his actions – life imprisonment.

As a reminder, a court in the Volyn region sentenced a former volleyball coach, finding him guilty of crimes against the sexual freedom and integrity of underage girls who trained in his section. The man was sentenced to 7 years and 6 months in prison.
