The speed limit for Starlink terminals in the Starshield military package has not yet been lifted. The 160 km/h threshold has caused problems not only with the use of jet interceptor drones, but also with the transmission of information to Ukrainian combat helicopters that destroy Russian Shaheds.

This was stated in an interview with the BBC by radio technology specialist Sergey Beskrestnov, known as “Flash”.

According to him, the speed limit of 160 km/h remains in effect. The expert had previously warned that because of it, Ukrainian jet interceptor drones cannot fully counter Russian jet “Shaheeds”.

Now, as Beskrestnov noted, it has become clear that the problem also applies to combat helicopters. They play an important role in destroying conventional Shaheds, but when performing missions, they move faster than the established limit.

As a result, the Starshield restriction affected one of the important channels of information transmission to Ukrainian helicopters.

“It’s very difficult for me to realize that one sudden move by our partners destroys a significant part of our defense,” said Flash.

At the same time, the expert expressed hope that the restrictions were introduced due to a misunderstanding and that the problem would be resolved in the near future.

As is known, on the night of October 14, the Ukrainian military recorded restrictions in the operation of Starlink satellite communications, in particular the Starshield system. Due to communication disruptions, it became more difficult for the Defense Forces to control drones, and some combat missions had to be canceled.

The Ministry of Defense later reported that the operation of the Starshield satellite communication system in motion has resumed and is gradually improving. The defense department continues to investigate the reasons for the restrictions that arose the day before and is checking the speed of the system at the front.

However, the administration of US President Donald Trump denies involvement in the restrictions on Starlink operations in Ukraine. Washington said it would contact SpaceX to find out the reasons for the problems.
