Before the New Year, it is important to properly organize cleaning so as not to deprive yourself of good luck and prosperity. Experts and folk signs emphasize things that absolutely should not be thrown away during the holidays.

The New Year and Christmas period has long been considered a time of magical transitions, when any actions can affect the events of the following year. The goal of a general cleaning is to get rid of the old, but along with the junk, you can accidentally “throw away” your own luck and wealth.

Folk omens suggest strict restrictions on garbage and finances. You cannot take out garbage on December 31 and on Old New Year’s Day, as it is considered a carrier of the energy of the house.

“Any carelessness during cleaning can symbolically sweep away prosperity and peace for the entire year,” says folk wisdom.

It is not allowed to leave debts or borrowed things for the New Year. Throwing away bread, salt, and cereals is considered undesirable, as these foods symbolize vitality and abundance. An old broom should also not be thrown away, as it has accumulated positive energy over the year.

Astrologers advise keeping an old wallet, especially if it is empty, as well as new things that have not yet been used. Withered plants, old wish lists and holiday decorations should be left at home, as they symbolize life, potential and positive energy.

“Travel items and things that bring joy preserve personal energy and happiness,” astrologers note.

Clothes and shoes that are still usable are best given to those in need after the holidays. Don’t throw away empty plant pots – they are waiting for new fillings that will attract prosperity.

To cleanse yourself of negativity, you should throw away broken dishes, cracked mirrors, broken appliances, other people’s things, and resolve old conflicts. This will help free up vital energy and prepare space for new successes and positivity.

The New Year should be celebrated by preserving objects that bring happiness and getting rid of accumulated negativity.

By the way, the cost of a New Year’s table in 2026 for an average Ukrainian family of 4 people will be about 3,980 hryvnias . This is 10.7% more than last year, and a table with delicacies will cost 4,793 hryvnias.

Previously, “Pryamiy” reported that on New Year’s Eve, Ukrainians are preparing for the celebration taking into account the symbolism of the year of the Fire Horse. It is believed that properly selected dishes and table setting can emphasize the energy of the year and create a festive atmosphere . At the same time, the wrong choice of menu can disrupt the festive atmosphere and energy of the year.

As you know, the New Year 2026 will be celebrated under the sign of the Fire Horse , which symbolizes movement, strength and renewal. The symbol of the year determines the key approaches to the festive image, New Year’s table and Christmas tree decoration.
