Food prices have risen sharply in Ukraine

Wholesale food prices in Ukraine continue to rise rapidly, with meat prices rising the most.
This is evidenced by data from the State Statistics Service for August 2025.
According to statistics, prices for meat and meat products increased by 23.4%: domestic prices increased by 23.8%, and export prices by 12.7%. Dairy products rose by an average of 17.7%, in particular, domestically by 18.7%, for export by 5.8%. Bread and bakery products rose in price by 15.5%: domestically by 15.1%, for export by 24.2%. Beverages rose by 9.7%, mainly domestically (10.0%).
At the same time, sugar showed a reverse trend – its price fell by 8.8% (in Ukraine – by 8.7%).
It is noted that changes in wholesale prices usually affect retailers with a certain time lag of several months.
Let us remind you that in Ukraine, over the past week, most vegetables have become significantly cheaper , while in the fruit and berry segment, there has been a mixed trend – some items have increased in price, while others, on the contrary, have become more affordable.
As reported, food prices are rising rapidly in most countries . Meat and vegetable oils rose the most in July around the world.
