North Korea has sent about 400 drone operators to Russia’s Kursk region. They are part of a North Korean contingent of about 8,500 troops and could be involved in reconnaissance and strikes on Ukrainian targets.

This is reported by CNN .

Deputy Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Vadym Skibitsky, said that about 1,000 more North Korean military personnel in this contingent are engineers and sappers.

North Korean operators already have experience working with drones and can use them to scout and strike Ukrainian targets.

The GUR believes that the involvement of unmanned aviation specialists indicates the expansion of military cooperation between Russia and the DPRK.

According to Ukrainian intelligence, during a possible September meeting between Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong-un, the Russian leader may ask to send up to 50,000 more North Korean troops to Russia.

It is expected that the new contingent can perform tasks in rear positions, which will allow the Russian army to free up additional forces for direct assaults.

As a reminder, North Korea is relocating its missile unit to the Voronezh region of the Russian Federation , which could be used to strike Ukraine. It could be equipped with 120 ballistic missiles.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russia plans to increase the number of North Korean citizens on its territory to 30-50 thousand . According to him, the DPRK receives experience in modern warfare and military technology from Russia.
