For the first time in eight years: NATO Military Committee arrives in Ukraine

NATO’s Military Committee has made its first official visit to Ukraine in eight years. Military representatives from all 32 NATO member states arrived in Kyiv.

This was announced by the Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone.

During the visit, the Alliance representatives met with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Mykhailo Drapaty. The parties discussed Ukraine’s military priorities and war experience that can be used to enhance NATO’s preparedness for current and future threats.

“After an eight-year hiatus, the NATO Military Committee is returning to Kyiv for an official visit. And although we were not physically here, Ukraine has always remained in our thoughts, discussions, decisions and further actions – every day,” said Cavo Dragone.

According to him, during the negotiations, Alliance representatives were to receive the latest assessment of the situation on the battlefield and determine what else NATO could do to support Ukraine.

The delegation included military representatives from all 32 NATO member states .

Cavo Dragone also emphasized that sabotage, cyberattacks, and airspace violations will not force the Alliance to abandon its support for Kyiv.

“To those who believe that acts of sabotage, cyberattacks, and airspace violations can undermine our support and resolve, I say: you are failing. NATO’s support for Ukraine continues to grow, and our unity is stronger than ever,” the admiral said.

While in Kyiv, members of the Military Committee also honored the memory of the fallen Ukrainian defenders at the Wall of Remembrance.

As a reminder, back in August , Drapatiy announced the first visit of the NATO Military Committee to Ukraine in eight years . At that time, he reported that the parties planned to discuss air defense, long-range strikes, front-line robotization, and other military priorities.
