Former MP Leontiy Martynyuk has died.

On the night of November 28, Leontiy Martynyuk, deputy chairman of the All-Ukrainian Union “Svoboda” and a people’s deputy of Ukraine of the 7th convocation, died at the age of 55 after a serious and prolonged illness.

His death was announced by party leader Oleh Tyahnybok.

Svoboda mentions Martynyuk as a devoted patriot, nationalist, wise and erudite man, and also the author of the party symbol.

Who is Leontiy Martynyuk?

  • Date of birth: July 22, 1971, Volyn family.

  • Education and activities: politician, political strategist, involved in advertising and political communications.

  • Sports and creativity: in his youth he was involved in biathlon and was a guitarist for the rock band “Udivitelnye”.

    • Deputy of the Lviv Regional Council (2010-2012).

    • In the 2012 parliamentary elections he became a people’s deputy from the All-Ukrainian Union “Svoboda”.

    • He held the position of Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Culture and Spirituality.

    • Deputy Chairman of the All-Ukrainian Union “Svoboda” for public relations.

Party colleagues call him one of the key ideological figures of the organization.
