Soldiers of the 63rd Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have captured a 22-year-old Indian citizen who fought on the side of the Russian army. The captive, Majoti Sahil Mohamed Hussein from the city of Morbi, was taken to the front by deception and coercion.
According to the brigade’s video , the Indian studied at a Russian university but was sentenced to seven years in prison for a drug-related crime. While in prison, he was offered an “alternative” – a year of military service with the promise of freedom after completing his contract.
Hussein said he underwent a brief training in September. He spent 16 days at a training ground, where he was taught how to use a machine gun, shoot, and throw grenades. After that, he was immediately sent to war.
“They didn’t give me anything. In short, they’re all liars there,” the prisoner said.
According to him, the command promised first 100 thousand rubles, then half a million, and later even 1.5 million, but he did not receive a single penny. On September 30, the Indian was thrown into the “green zone”, and the next day he was sent to storm. After three days at the front, he voluntarily surrendered to the Ukrainian military.
“I approached the Ukrainian positions, put down the machine gun and surrendered. I don’t want to return to Russia,” he said during interrogation.
It should be noted that the recruitment of Indian citizens into the Russian army continues. According to The Times of India , the Kremlin is once again actively recruiting foreigners through deception and pressure.
The Indian publication cited the example of 30-year-old Rakesh Kumar from the state of Uttarakhand, who traveled to Russia on a student visa on August 7, but soon informed his family that he had been forcibly mobilized.
He last contacted his brother on August 30 and told him he was being sent to the front. Later, the family received a photo of Rakesh in a Russian army uniform.
The last time he called from an unknown number, saying that his documents had been confiscated and that he was studying in Donbas. After that, contact with him disappeared.
Earlier, fighters of the border commandant’s rapid response unit of the Chernihiv detachment of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine stopped the advance of Russian troops in the Pokrovsky direction and captured nine invaders .
Also, earlier, a Russian marine got lost and voluntarily surrendered to Ukrainian border guards in the Kursk direction.
