Four-time Ukrainian champion in bogatyr all-around events and Ukrainian record holder Pavel Ishchenko died in the war.

This was reported by Sport.ua with reference to the information resources of the “Bogatyr Games”.

“The sports community has received further tragic news from the front. Four-time Ukrainian champion in the all-around event and Ukrainian record holder, Pavlo Ishchenko, was killed while carrying out a combat mission in the war with the Muscovites,” the statement reads.

The athlete, originally from Gostomel in the Kyiv region, is celebrated. Before becoming a strongman, Pavlo was a world and European champion and a multiple-time Ukrainian champion in powerlifting.

Ishchenko combined his competitive career with coaching.

Pavel became the strongest athlete in Ukraine in the all-around event during the full-scale war – in 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025.

As a reminder, track and field coach Andriy Bobrovnik was killed during the fighting for Ukraine.
