Fourth day in a row: protests in support of Fedorov again took place in Ukrainian cities

Protests in support of Mykhailo Fedorov were held again in a number of Ukrainian cities on July 19. Protesters demanded his return to the position of Minister of Defense and the resignation of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrsky.

In Kyiv, the fourth consecutive protest action is taking place on Ivan Franko Square. Despite the planned start at 8:00 p.m., participants began gathering early. Organizers said that the main demands of the protesters remain the appointment of Mykhailo Fedorov as Minister of Defense and the dismissal of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky. During the action, slogans are heard: “Fedorov is the Minister of Defense” and “Syrsky, go away.”

Ukrainian cultural and show business figures also joined the protests in Kyiv and other cities. Among them, in particular, Zlata Ognevich, Nadia Dorofeeva, Yevhen Klopotenko, Volodymyr Yaroslavsky, Taras Tsymbalyuk, Olena Svitlytska, Valentyna Khamayko, Nadiya Khilska, Ivan Lyulenov, Artem Damnytsky, as well as the Australian band breath., which arrived in Ukraine to participate in the Atlas Festival. They published photos from the actions and expressed support for the protesters on social networks.

In Ivano-Frankivsk, protests have been ongoing for the fourth day in a row on the square in front of the regional military administration building. Participants chanted “Deputies to work,” “We need to fight with drones, not blood,” “Vacations are not the time,” and “Freedom of speech for the military.” They also held placards calling for changes in the country’s military leadership.

A rally in support of Fedorov is also taking place in Odessa for the fourth day in a row. Protesters are calling for his reinstatement, support continued defense reforms, and call for transparent management of the defense sector.

About a thousand people gathered on Deribasovskaya Street. During the rally, they chanted: “Fedorov in the Ministry of Defense,” “Syrskyi — away,” “War has no vacations,” “Military personnel are not disposable,” “Let’s change or perish,” “Scoop — away,” and “Shame.”

In Kremenchuk, citizens once again gathered on Victory Square near the city council. Participants in the action hold posters and chant the name of the former head of the Ministry of Defense.

Dnipro also joined the protests. About 200 people gathered near the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration building for the fourth protest. The event began with a minute of silence for the fallen defenders and the performance of the National Anthem of Ukraine.

The participants demanded the reinstatement of Mykhailo Fedorov as Minister of Defense, ensuring transparency in personnel decisions, and making changes in the management of the army. Some protesters also called for the dismissal of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky.

In Khmelnytskyi, the rally in support of Fedorov also continued for the third day in a row. According to journalists from “Suspilny”, more than 150 people gathered for a protest on the evening of July 18. The participants expressed their disagreement with the personnel changes in the government and chanted slogans demanding the dismissal of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In Kherson, due to constant Russian shelling and the threat of drone strikes, it is impossible to hold a mass protest. Instead, local residents organized a symbolic flash mob: cardboard posters with the inscriptions “Return Fedorov”, “On vacation in Kherson”, “I don’t care”, and “Kherson” were placed on anti-drone nets in the city center.

The organizer of the action, Olga Chernyshova, noted that this format allows residents of frontline cities to express their position even in conditions of constant danger.

“This is a real idea for those who support it, but live in frontline cities and cannot go out. We also have an active position. They can do the same, for example, in Kramatorsk and other frontline communities. We are not separate from everyone else – we are together,” she said.

In Lutsk, over 300 participants gathered at Teatralny Maidan. Protesters came with posters in support of Fedorov, demanded the resignation of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky, and observed a minute of silence for those killed in the Russian-Ukrainian war.

About 150 people took part in the rally in Cherkasy . This is the fifth protest in the city since the rallies began. The participants demanded the return of Fedorov to the post of Minister of Defense, the resignation of Syrsky, and stated that they would continue to take part in the rallies until the authorities respond to their demands.

About 130 people joined the protest in Mykolaiv . According to the participants, they are opposing Fedorov’s resignation and calling for preserving reforms aimed at strengthening the country’s defense capabilities.

Several dozen protesters gathered in Chernivtsi’s Central Square. The participants demanded the reinstatement of Mykhailo Fedorov as Minister of Defense and the dismissal of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky. Some of them said that they participate in the protests every day and intend to continue the actions.

In Uzhhorod, a protest was held on Narodnaya Square for the fourth day in a row. Residents of Mukachevo also joined the action. Protesters chanted “Resign” and “Release the prisoners, not Fedorov.”
