From 300 to 500 thousand people: the Kremlin is preparing a new large-scale wave of mobilization

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russia is preparing for a new wave of mobilization after the State Duma elections, which are scheduled to be held on September 21. According to him, the Kremlin plans to call up between 300,000 and 500,000 people.

He said this in an interview with Sky News.

According to Zelensky, Russia is not ready to stop the war and is preparing to increase mobilization after the parliamentary elections.

“Putin is not ready to stop this war. There is intelligence that he is preparing for mobilization. He wants to do it after the Duma elections on September 21. He wants to intensify mobilization. Not openly, because he is afraid of his society, but he will do it in early October if we do not create problems for him with logistics, weapons, gasoline, diesel, and if our partners do not impose total sanctions for his aggression,” the president said.

Zelensky noted that the Kremlin expects to mobilize between 300,000 and 500,000 people. According to him, a significant part of Russian society opposes mobilization, but those mobilized may be poorly prepared, which will lead to large losses.

At the same time, the Center for Countering Disinformation reported that the Rosgvardia updated the civil defense rules, including for the first time provisions on protection against “threats during mobilization, martial law, and wartime.”

The Central Military District noted that such changes indicate early preparation by the Kremlin’s security apparatus for the possible suppression of mass protests after the announcement of mobilization.

The Center also emphasized that the systematic updating of legislation and the arrangement of military training grounds indicate preparations for a new wave of conscription in Russia. According to the Center’s assessment, the Russian authorities are expanding the list of categories of citizens for recruitment into the war, preparing to mobilize more than 500 thousand people.

By the way, Russia is probably preparing for a new wave of official mobilization and possible introduction of martial law . This is indicated by recent legislative changes and actions of the Russian authorities, which are simultaneously strengthening mechanisms for controlling the population.
