From severe frosts to above-zero temperatures: what will the weather be like in Ukraine on February 17?

On Tuesday, February 17, Ukraine is expected to experience contrasting weather: dry and frosty conditions will prevail in the northern and western regions, while rain, sleet, and gusty winds are forecast for the south.
This was reported by weather forecaster Natalia Didenko .
According to her, weather conditions remain changeable: after thaws and fog, a cyclone with snowfalls and blizzards swept across the country, followed by frosts. The cold snap will intensify in the coming days, but a southern cyclone from the Balkans will soon arrive in Ukraine again, bringing further snowfalls, blizzards, and strong winds.
Weather by region
No significant precipitation is forecast for most regions on February 17. Sleet and rain are possible in the southern part, with gusty winds. Light snow is expected in the west of the country.
Air temperature
At night: -5…-12 °C, in the north – -12…-18 °C.
During the day: -2…+7°C, in the north – -5…+1°C, in the southern part, in the southeast and Dnipro region – -2…+2°C, in Crimea – +3…+9°C.
Weather in Kyiv
Precipitation is unlikely in the capital on February 17 due to the anticyclone Felix. Icy roads are possible. Overnight temperatures will drop to -15 to -17°C, with daytime lows of -6 to -8°C.
On Wednesday, Kyiv will be hit by a new cyclone bringing snow and rising temperatures.
The weather forecaster emphasized that southern cyclones occur in “series,” so unstable weather with alternating frosts and thaws will persist in Ukraine for the next week.
