From St. Petersburg to Moscow: drones attacked important Russian facilities

On the night of Wednesday, June 3, a number of Russian regions came under massive drone attacks. Reports of explosions came from St. Petersburg, Tambov Oblast, and Moscow.

According to Russian sources and monitoring channels, facilities related to the oil and defense industries were hit.

One of the main targets of the attack was an oil terminal in the port of St. Petersburg. After a series of explosions, a massive fire broke out on the territory of the enterprise. Numerous videos appeared on the Internet, showing thick black smoke and flames engulfing part of the facility.

“After the first explosions, the fire quickly spread throughout the terminal. By morning, the fire became even more extensive,” OSINT observers report.

According to open sources, the fire could have engulfed tanks with petroleum products. There is no official confirmation of the extent of the damage yet. At the same time, the governor of the Leningrad region, Alexander Drozdenko, announced the destruction of three dozen drones over the region, without commenting on the situation at the terminal itself.

At the same time, there were reports of strikes on the Progress plant in the city of Michurinsk, Tambov region. This enterprise specializes in the production of equipment for aviation and missile technology.

In the footage released by eyewitnesses, the characteristic sound of drones flying can be heard, followed by explosions and a fire.

“After several explosions, a fire broke out on the territory of the enterprise,” the authors of the video, which spread on social networks, note.

Meanwhile, the Russian capital also reported air defense activity. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin repeatedly announced overnight that drones allegedly heading toward the city had been destroyed.

“Air defense forces shot down several drones flying towards Moscow. Emergency services are working at the sites of the debris,” he wrote on Telegram.

Information about the consequences of the attacks and possible damage to facilities is being clarified. Official Russian structures have not yet released full data on the scale of the destruction.
