Frosts and snowfalls: Ukraine faces a sharp change in weather at the end of the year

Snow, sleet, and strong northwest winds are forecast for Ukraine on Sunday, December 28. Forecasters are warning of increasing frosts and a new phase of cold snap by the end of the year.

This was reported by weather forecaster Natalka Didenko.

According to her, the final Sunday of the week of 2025 in Ukraine will be held under the conditions of active atmospheric fronts of the eastern cyclone. They will cause precipitation in the form of snow and sleet in most regions.

According to her, gusts of northwest wind will reach storm values and reach 15–20 meters per second.

“Sunday, the final Sunday of the week of 2025, will be with snow and strong winds in Ukraine,” said Natalka Didenko.

The air temperature during the day on December 28 will range from 2 degrees below zero to 3 degrees Celsius. Freezing is expected at night, which will contribute to the formation of ice on the roads.

Snow and sleet are forecast for Kyiv. The air temperature will remain around 0 degrees throughout the day, and strong winds are also expected.

In the future, wet weather with periodic precipitation will prevail in Ukraine. According to the weather forecast, a new stage of cooling will begin on December 30, with increasing frosts on New Year’s Eve.

It was previously reported that winter weather has spread from the Carpathians to the entire territory of Ukraine . On Thursday, December 26, snow, blizzards, ice and strong winds with gusts of 15–20 m/s are recorded across the country.
