A 17-year-old girl suspected of helping the Russian FSB poison Ukrainian soldiers was detained in the Zhytomyr region. According to investigators, she sent drugs by mail under the guise of free gifts. Two soldiers died from methadone poisoning, and four more people were rescued.

This was announced by the Deputy Head of the National Police of Ukraine, Maksym Tsutskiridze.

According to him, the girl acted on the instructions of a Russian handler: she packaged the drugs, sent them by mail, and provided fictitious sender details. She was promised at least 5,000 hryvnias for completing the tasks.

The organizers found the soldiers via Telegram and offered them free drugs. After receiving the package, the recipients were instructed to take the contents of the capsules on camera. The soldiers did not know that they contained a lethal dose of methadone.

While investigating the deaths of two servicemen in Zhytomyr region, police identified other recipients of such packages. This prevented four more murders in Kirovohrad, Zaporizhia, Chernivtsi, and Ivano-Frankivsk regions.

The detainee was informed of suspicion of aiding and abetting the premeditated murder of two people by prior conspiracy and the illegal transfer of narcotic and psychotropic substances for the purpose of sale. She faces up to 15 years in prison. Law enforcement officers are also checking her possible involvement in other crimes.

Tsutskiridze noted that the two deceased left the military units voluntarily, while the servicemen who were rescued continued their service. However, according to him, this fact is of no importance to the Russian special services.

“A person is being targeted precisely because he is a Ukrainian military man. Because Russia’s goal is to kill our people and destabilize the situation inside the country,” he emphasized.

The police urge military personnel and their loved ones to be careful with new acquaintances, and not to accept medicines, preparations, food, or drinks of dubious origin from unfamiliar people.

“If you are being pressured, pressured, or threatened, save the correspondence and report it to the police by calling 102,” Tsutskiridze urged. He also asked law enforcement to report similar situations to them if they involve siblings, as this can help prevent a crime in time.

As a reminder, a pre-trial investigation has been completed in the Rivne region into a 14-year-old girl accused of murdering a 27-year-old serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the orders of Russian special services . The indictment has been sent to court, and the minor faces up to 15 years in prison.
