Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko held a meeting with the management of Naftogaz of Ukraine on the situation on global oil and petroleum product markets.
She reported this on social media.
According to Sviridenko, oil prices have declined on international exchanges, which should also impact fuel prices in Ukraine.
“The state-owned Ukrnafta filling station network has already responded and begun lowering prices. If current global trends continue, a more significant reduction is expected,” the Prime Minister noted.
Oil prices fell below $100 a barrel after President Donald Trump announced a two-week ceasefire with Iran , conditional on the resumption of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, Reuters reports.
Despite the decline, oil prices are still above the level they were at before the Middle East tensions erupted in late February, when they were trading around $70 per barrel.
A drop in prices for European diesel fuel was also recorded, to $1,256.25 per metric ton, a decrease of 17.8%.
Svyrydenko emphasized that the Ukrainian market must respond appropriately to changing pricing conditions. At the same time, the fuel supply situation remains stable: March saw record supply volumes in the last five years, and this trend is expected to continue in April.
As a reminder, Iran confirmed a two-week ceasefire with the United States and stated its readiness to open the Strait of Hormuz for this period.
