The government plans to stabilize the situation in the fuel market and curb price increases. To do this, it will strengthen control over operators and involve state-owned companies.

This was reported by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyridenko.

After a meeting with the management of Naftogaz of Ukraine and representatives of relevant ministries, the head of government stated that one of the key stabilization tools will be the state-owned company Ukrnafta.

According to her, until the market situation normalizes, the company will sell fuel with a minimal trade markup. This should form a benchmark for a fair price for other operators.

Svyridenko also instructed state bodies to strengthen price control. The Antimonopoly Committee and the State Service for Food and Consumer Protection will check the pricing policies of operators to prevent unjustified markups and manipulations in the fuel market.

The First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Energy, together with the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Defense, will ensure uninterrupted fuel supplies for the defense sector.

The government has set a separate task for farmers and public transport. Relevant agencies must guarantee sufficient fuel supplies and stable prices for these sectors.

In addition, the government is negotiating with international partners to increase fuel imports. The Cabinet expects that additional supplies will help reduce tension in the Ukrainian fuel market.

It was previously reported that Ukrainian gas stations, taking advantage of events in the Middle East, raised fuel prices to increase profits, despite the fact that the situation in the Persian Gulf has not yet had an impact on the market.

Recall that fuel prices at Ukrainian gas stations continued to rise on Thursday, March 5. Diesel fuel rose the most, while gasoline and autogas also increased in price.
