Fuel prices to rise in Ukraine: will there be a shortage?
The director of the A-95 consulting company, Serhiy Kuyun, warned of a possible increase in fuel prices by 2 hryvnias per liter in just a few weeks.
He wrote about this on social media.
According to him, the price may not increase due to demand, two other factors will influence the increase in value.
In particular, in the first weeks of 2026, oil prices rose by 10% – now one barrel costs $66, and diesel fuel has increased in price by 2.5 hryvnias per liter.
In addition, the American and European currencies are an influential factor in calculating the price of oil. They have also become more expensive recently.
“So, if nothing changes, in a couple of weeks we can get 2 UAH/l guaranteed. Not very good, but nothing depends on us here,” the message says.
Among other things, Kuyun assured that there will be no fuel shortage in Ukraine, as there are sufficient reserves – in December, more than 800 thousand tons of diesel fuel were imported. The expert emphasized that this is a record figure, despite the fact that consumption remains at the level of 550-600 thousand tons.
