On Monday, September 22, the Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv sentenced the defendant in the case of the murder of teenager Maksym Materukhin at the funicular station.

This was reported by Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko and Suspilne .

In particular, the court found former State Security Department employee Artem Kosov guilty of premeditated murder for hooligan motives and sentenced him to life imprisonment.

“This decision is as close as possible to justice. As close as possible, because the life of a child cannot be compared to any term of imprisonment,” Kravchenko wrote.

As noted, the prosecution is ready to appeal the decision in the Court of Appeal.

However, neither Kosov nor the defense commented on the court’s verdict.

As a reminder, on April 7, 2024, at the capital’s funicular station , State Security Department employee Artem Kosov pushed 16-year-old Maksym Materukhin . The boy fell onto the glass, received a fatal cut to his neck, and died before the doctors arrived.
