The Russian ballistic missile “Oreshnik”, with which the Kremlin is trying to intimidate the civilized world, turned out to be assembled from old Soviet components. At the same time, the declared “super-powerful weapon” is actually based on developments from the last century.

President of the Ukrainian Aviation Pilots Association Gennady Khazan analyzed the consequences of the strike on the Lviv region with new Russian ballistic missiles on the air of “Pryamoy”.

“There were actually gyroscopes. Gagarin flew into space with the same gyroscope,” he emphasized, adding that the aggressor is using outdated technologies, trying to pass them off as the latest developments.

According to the expert, the enemy spends about $40–50 million on one such launch, but the effectiveness of the weapon remains extremely low. During the attack on Lviv, the combat element only damaged reinforced concrete panels and caused a small fire.

Khazan suggested that Russia used old missile kits that were once stored at Ukrainian factories. He is convinced that this “ace up Putin’s sleeve” does not actually have serious power, but only demonstrates the enemy’s weakness.

As a reminder, on the night of January 9, Lviv region was hit by a missile strike , which hit a critical infrastructure facility. After the attack, fires and gas supply disruptions were recorded in some areas of the region. Later, videos of the probable moment of arrival and the consequences of the strike appeared on the Internet , which are associated with the use of a Russian ballistic missile “Oreshnik”.

In response, Ukraine appealed to international partners to immediately respond to Russia’s use of a medium-range ballistic missile against the Lviv region. The Foreign Ministry emphasizes that the Kremlin claims to have used an Oreshnik-type missile, and Moscow’s attempts to justify the attack with a fabricated “assault on Putin’s residence” are another manifestation of lies and propaganda.

Later, the Security Service published a photo of the wreckage of the Oreshnik ballistic missile , which the Russian army used to strike Ukraine on the night of January 9. The enemy probably launched the missile from the Kapustin Yar test site in the Astrakhan region. The SBU classifies the use of the Oreshnik against civilian infrastructure as a war crime.

At the same time, as a result of a ballistic missile strike on the Lviv region, only two concrete floors were damaged, and a complete collection of works by Vladimir Lenin was burned . Electronic warfare specialist Serhiy Flesh is convinced that the attack was not intended to cause large-scale destruction, but was rather a demonstrative signal to Europe – evidence of Russia’s capabilities and determination.
