In the Kupyansk direction, Russian military personnel continue to try to infiltrate Ukrainian positions in small groups. They use gas pipelines, in particular, to move covertly, but after exiting the pipes, they are detected by Ukrainian UAV operators.

This was stated on Army TV by Anastasia Khaletska, head of the communications department of the 4th Separate Heavy Mechanized Brigade.

According to her, after the liberation of the forests on the western flank of Oskol, it became more difficult for the Russian military to plan their actions and advance between Ukrainian positions. At the same time, the enemy continues to use the tactic of infiltration in small groups.

“We have probably even forgotten what mechanized assaults are, what a large number of enemies are. And the Kupyan region is no exception,” Khaletska noted.

She added that after the counteroffensive actions of the Ukrainian military, the situation in the direction has become somewhat calmer. At the same time, the brigade does not consider this a permanent trend, since the initiative on the battlefield can change quickly.

FPV operators and reconnaissance drones are trying to detect Russian military personnel before they advance towards Ukrainian positions.

According to Khaletska, gas pipelines remain one of the enemy’s methods of covert movement. Despite hundreds of failed attempts, the Russians continue to use pipes to avoid aerial surveillance and cover certain areas unnoticed.

At the same time, after leaving the gas pipelines, the Russian military again becomes visible to Ukrainian UAV operators. According to the spokeswoman, the Ukrainian military has repeatedly destroyed the Russians both on the approaches to the pipes and immediately after their exit.

Separately, Khaletska said that during the retreat from the Kupyanska community, the Russian military used civilians as cover.

“The enemy does not disdain the use of civilians to cover themselves,” she said.

The spokeswoman emphasized that the Ukrainian military cannot use weapons against Russians if they are hiding behind civilians, in particular children or the elderly, as this poses a threat to the lives of Ukrainian citizens.

It was previously reported that North Korean troops could replace Russian units in the Sumy or Kharkiv directions. This would allow Russia to free up its forces and transfer them to other areas of the front, in particular to the Lyman direction in the Donetsk region.
