Gas stations in Crimea are closing due to lack of fuel
The fuel shortage is getting worse on the temporarily occupied peninsula. In Simferopol and other cities of Crimea, A95 gasoline has disappeared from gas stations, which is why some gas stations are closing.
This was reported by the Public Crimea with reference to a local activist.
According to him, the lack of popular fuel has been going on for several days. Drivers are forced to buy the more expensive Ultra brand, or refuse to travel by their own transport. As a result, on weekdays, the courtyards of multi-story buildings remain filled with cars, and city minibuses are overcrowded with passengers.
The occupation authorities explain the price increase by high logistics costs and loans, but local residents note that Russian gasoline is significantly cheaper in Belarus. Activists believe that Belarusians are more important to the Kremlin than Crimeans, who are perceived in Russia itself as “natives in the occupied territory.”
The interlocutor also noted that the fuel sector of Crimea is effectively controlled by monopolists affiliated with Sergei Aksenov – the companies ATAN and TES . This is why large chain petrol stations that could create competition are not allowed onto the peninsula.
“The Kerch oil depot was mothballed, the Feodosiya one was sold, and now Crimea has no reserves in case of a crisis. Local businessmen are making money on the deficit,” the activist said.
He also emphasized that the attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on Russian fuel infrastructure are already having an effect: gasoline prices are rising throughout the Russian Federation, and discontent with the war in Russian society is growing.
Earlier in Crimea, due to a shortage, they began selling fuel using coupons.
